We are still on our walking tour of Novi Sad.

the Armenian Eastern Catholic church was razed
to construct Mihajlo Pupin Boulevard
The other artifact is the Јерменски хачкар/
Armenian Khachkar/an intricately
hand-carved, memorial stone bearing a
central cross, typically resting on a rosette
And here is a sculpture (2011, by Sava Halugin)
of Mihajlo Pupin, a Serbian-American who
was an electrical engineer and physicist,
Columbia University professor, and a key figure
in the development of modern telecommunications
by developing the Pupin coils that could extend
the range of long-distance telephones; he also
was a founding member of National Advisory
Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) in 1915,
which later became NASA
Палата Дунавске бановине/Palace of the Danube Banovina
(1936-1940, by Dragiša Brašovan in Modernist style with
art deco and stripped classicism elements) is the seat of
the provincial government of Vojvodina
Тениски клуб Војводина/Tennis Club Vojvodina
(est 1924) was the early training ground for tennis star
Monica Seles, who was born in Novi Sad

Across the river is Петроварадинској тврђави/
Petrovaradin Fortress (1692-1780, when the Austrians
captured the fortress after 150 years under Turkish rule
in 1687, and never lost to the Turkish again)
Породица/The Family (1971, by Jovan
Soldatović) is a memorial to the Victims of
the Raid in Novi Sad, where occupying
Hungarian forces carried out a mass
shooting of more than a thousand innocent
citizens, including Serbs, Jews, and Romani,
at what is now known as the Quay of
the Victims of the Raid, and were
pushed beneath the frozen Danube River
In 1992, plaques were added at the Quay of the
Victims of the Raid, listing the names and with
texts in Serbian, Hungarian, Slovak and Hebrew (KSS)
A crew was filming an interview with perhaps
Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta, an environmental activist
and member of the National Assembly of Serbia
Statue (c 1988, by Lászlo Szilágyi) of 
Janika Balaž, a Serbian tamburitza (a type of
long-necked lute) musician and band leader
Радник/The Worker (1931, by Toma Rosandić)
is on Дом радника/Labor Hall
Looks exactly like the statue in Belgrade
of Đura Jakšić (Serbian poet, painter, and
writer); however, this one is dated 1982
but is also by Jovan Soldatović
