After lunch, we continued exploring the city of Cairns, following the Esplanade along the beach.

1956 Olympic Torch Monument
commemorates the Olympic Torch Relay
that began in Cairns and was run in mile
segments to Melbourne; it was the first
Torch Relay in the Southern Hemisphere
