Winters Heritage House Museum and Star Barn Village (5/13/2026)

After checking out the Elizabethtown historic buildings on Market Street, we walked up High Street to the Winters Heritage House Museum, which now includes three buildings.

Scots-Irish Log Home (1790) at 47 E High Street

After a fire in 1847, a kitchen was added to the
back of the Scots-Irish log home

Pennsylvania German Log Home (1760s) at 41 E High Street

This one-room log home was moved here in 1812,
and parts of the wall are left exposed to show the
chinking/gap filler that included a bottle, pork bone,
ceramic shards and a brick

The original Winters Heritage House Museum

H U Coble House (1890) was donated to the museum upon the
death of volunteer Esther Winters, for whom the museum is named

Living room/parlor of the Coble House is often used
for speakers and events, and also historic displays

Esther Winters became a pharmacist at age 54 years; she
owned the local Rexall Drugs, working from 1959-2000

Star Barn (1877, in Gothic Revival style as a horse barn
in Middletown, PA, moved to Elizabethtown in 2016)
with other structures including a carriage house, corn crib,
hog barn, and chicken coop; now an event venue and we
were discouraged from getting any closer

We were also here to see the remaining short railroad
track over which Abraham Lincoln's Funeral Train passed;
the engine house is newly constructed...

...and contained a replica Pioneer Coach #1864 (2019, after
an 1848 passenger coach) for the Harrisburg, Lincoln &
Lancaster Railroad that runs a tourist train

Nearby, across another railroad track is the Herr's Mill
Covered Bridge (1844, spanning Pequea Creek in
Lancaster County, PA; one span of this bridge was moved in
2018 to Stone Gables Estate that is also home to Star Barn

Herr's Mill Covered Bridge is a Burr arch truss covered
bridge, and does not seem to cross any waterway

Spending the night in Williamsport at the
historic Genetti Hotel (1921-1922,
by William Lee Stoddart in
Beaux-Arts style as the Lycoming Hotel)

However, our room was in the 1968 motel addition in the back

Inspiration Lycoming County mural (begun in 2001, by
Michael Pilato and others) is the largest of its kind
covering three walls of a parking lot and featuring
images of 400 people who had a positive impact on
the county and its residents

Dinner was at Bullfrog Brewery...

...which is indeed a brewery

On our way back to the hotel/motel, we spotted this
Ford Model T "Depot Hack" that was used to celebrate
the hotel's 100th Anniversary and it participates 
in the annual Little League's Grand Slam Parade
