Now for a Walking Tour of Historic St Michaels:
Eagle House (1893) of the Dodson family
Dodson House (1851, raised to three stories in 1886
to be used as a hotel)
Higgin's House (1856)
Shannahan House (1853) with a small inlet from the harbor
The Second Empire-style Shannahan House
is unique in St Michaels
The Snuggery (1790s) is thought to be one of the few
remaining log houses in town
Dr Dodson House/Bruff House (c 1799 as a tavern,
enlarged in 1872)
Haddaway House (late 1700s); the family
operated a shipyard behind the house
Small Frame House (1800-1810)
is typical of homes of of sailors
and shipyard workers
Wickersham (1750) was moved from near the airport
to this location near the water in 2004
Thomas Harrison House (before 1798) is the oldest
two-story frame structure still standing in St Michaels
Church Cove Park (1920s) with two replica
cannons of those given in 1813 by
Jacob Gibson after his prank during the
War of 1812 when he raised a red
handkerchief on his boat to make the
 townspeople think the British were coming;
the cannons were then used in the real
Battle of St Michaels against the British
View of St Michael's Harbor from the restaurant

Cannonball House (1805) was apparently the only
house damaged during the War of 1812, with a cannonball
penetrating the roof and bouncing down the stairs
St Mary's Square with a cannon used during
the Battle of St Michaels in 1813, and placed
here during a centennial event in 1913
Revolutionary War Cannon placed here in 1961
St Michaels Museum comprised of the Chaney House
(c 1850, of free Black brothers) and the
Jeremiah Sewell House (L side built as a mill
before 1819, R side addition in 1865)
Colonel Joseph Kemp House (1805, in Georgian style)
Berkeley's Hall (c 1840)
The Old Inn (1816)
Thomas Bruff House (c 1800, in Eastern Shore style
called a telescope house)
Mount Pleasant (c 1806)
St Luke's United Methodist Church (1871)
Christ Episcopal Church (1878)
Tarr House (c 1800-1810)
Bruff-Mansfield House (c 1800)
Freedom's Friend Lodge (1883) may be the
oldest Black lodge in Maryland
Union United Methodist Church (1895,
in Gothic Revival style) is the oldest
African American church in St Michaels
Horace Turner House (1904, in Queen Anne style) was
constructed by Black builder Horace Turner who was
also involved with the Union United Methodist Church
The Parsonage Inn (c 1870, in Queen Anne style)
