The Frick Art Museum Special Exhibition is titled: French Moderns: Matisse / Renoir / Degas. We felt the title was a bit misleading, because there were only 2-3 artworks from the masters named.
The Frick Pittsburgh also has the Time-traveling Caterpillar Scavenger Hunt, a search for Gustave the Caterpillar throughout the 5.5 acre site in photos of artwork. The photos with Gustave will be shown with the original artwork.
The exhibit was curated by the Brooklyn Museum with 56 paintings and sculptures that explore major new forms of representation and abstraction forged in France during a period of profound social, cultural, and technological change. It is organized around four themes:
